Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)

As part of the WEEE directive (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) that came into effect on the 1st July 2007, iansyst Ltd have what is known as a “consumer information obligation” (CIO). This means we must inform customers of the existence of WEEE collection facilities and importance of recycling.

If you see this symbol on any of our packaging it means the contents are not suitable for household waste, and you must dispose of them according to your local council guidelines.

The recycle-more website is one of several that can advise on the availability of designated collection facilities (DCFs) in your area. The site explains the potential effects on the environment and human health resulting from the presence of hazardous substances in EEE. There is also background information on the UK's obligations to minimise the disposal of WEEE to landfill and to achieve high levels of collection of WEEE for environmentally sound treatment.

iansyst Ltd has joined the Distribution Take Back Scheme (DTS) and so has agreed to make a financial contribution toward the development of the Government network of WEEE collection facilities in the UK. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), who are responsible for the implementation of such facilities, recently described this as one of the most comprehensive networks of WEEE collection facilities in Europe.

If you have any questions at all regarding WEEE please contact the WEEE team on 01223 420101. We are keen to assist you as we go forward.
