Welcome
Welcome to the June 2008 issue of the ITS Assist Newsletter. This issue celebrates 25 years of independent trading for iansyst Ltd and exciting news about the assistive technology available to help you.
iansyst’s 25th Anniversary

iansyst Ltd is delighted to be celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
Founded by Ian Litterick in 1983 to provide good value training and educational software, iansyst Ltd has proudly maintained its independence whilst forging important links with software developers, specialist suppliers of assistive technology and organisations such as the British Dyslexia Association and the Right to Read Campaign. We have always done our best to offer impartial advice and product assessments.
Product Promotions

Previously mentioned in the last Newsletter, the eLC allocation of funding for products will finish in August 2008.
As promised, more product offers are under way; Nessy Learning Programme is now featuring a 10% discount for the network licences and will be available until 31st July 2008. Nessy Learning Programme is a complete literacy teaching scheme developed at the Bristol Dyslexia Centre for all ages and abilities.
This highly structured program uses humour to make learning fun and effective. The multi-sensory teacher resource provides 1500 printable pages; including 120 lessons, 271 card games and a library of mnemonics and writing strategies. The exciting games for pupils will reinforce the reading, writing and spelling skills that they have learnt.
Keep a look out on the home page of dyslexic.com for further offers.
Kidspiration v3

The new version of Kidspiration v3, the concept mapping software for young pupils, has just been released with 5 visual tools for Maths to develop pupils’ number sense, spatial reasoning and conceptual understanding of the four basic operations.
The new word guide combines a dictionary and thesaurus to help build vocabulary and reading comprehension. There has been an increase in the number of symbols available to make mind mapping more visual, allowing ideas and thoughts to be expressed more easily.

ClassMate Reader

To help new and struggling readers we have introduced the New ClassMate Reader a portable and affordable digital audio book player.
The player reads downloaded text to help increase reading speed, comprehension and vocabulary. The ClassMate reads aloud and simultaneously displays and highlights text on its full colour screen.
Its simple, flexible interface can be configured to the user’s specific needs; font type, text size, colour and line spacing can all be changed.

Re-adjust.co.uk

This initiative by iansyst is designed to offer structured solutions for employers to make the reasonable adjustments required by the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) for their disabled employees.
There are articles regarding the implications of the legislation for Managers, Human Resource personnel and employees. iansyst offers practical solutions such as consultation workshops and dyslexia diagnostic assessments. The web-site also provides information regarding the wide range of suitable and reliable products to help people with disabilities.
