DYSLEXIA-FRIENDLY BEST PRACTICE AWARD 2009 is now open for nominations!
Now Closed - The winner will be announced soon..
The Dyslexia Friendly Best Practice Award is now in its second year. Last year the competition drew a lot of interest and we had two worthy winners.
Last year's winner:
The main award was presented to Mrs. Suzanne Edwards from Notley Green Primary School in Essex, with a further special award presented to Mrs. Devra Applebaum from Coedcae School, Llanelli. To find out what they won and why we found them worthy winners click here.
Theme:
This year's theme is “Celebrating the Strengths of Dyslexic Students”, to coincide with Dyslexia Awareness Week. Once again, we are looking for entries from SENCOs and non-specialist teachers working with young dyslexic people in the UK to demonstrate your school's commitment to supporting and nurturing the strengths of your dyslexic students (such as creativity, problem-solving as well as strong artistic and musical abilities). In recognising and supporting these strengths, and providing pupils with the correct assistive technology, they can make the most of their talents and overcome many of their difficulties. We want you to tell us how this is achieved in your school.
